A suggested one
week itinerary from the BVI
The beauty of a private crewed yacht is that it is at your disposal. There is no
fixed schedule and no cruise ship itinerary. So, as the sun goes down, you sip
your first cocktail and enjoy world class cuisine on board, the captain will get
out the charts and plans can be made for the next day. And of course, you can
change this as you sail.
Day 1 Join
your chosen yacht, meet the crew and get settled aboard. Sail to Great Harbour
on Peter Island, a spectacular anchorage with pelicans diving in the evening
light.
Day 2 After a swim, sail to Salt Island. Nearby is the famous wreck of
the Rhone that abounds with fish, is easy to snorkel and a popular dive site.
Later sail to Cooper Island, a delightful island where turtles are often seen!
Day 3 Gentle sail to Virgin Gorda, with its historic rock formations
above and below the water that can be explored by sea or shore. Perhaps enjoy a
barbecue lunch on one of the deserted beaches.
Day 4 Sail into the North Sound of Virgin Gorda with its beautiful bays
and local craft shops.
Day 5 Sail to Sandy or Green Cay. These small deserted cays are the
perfect place for a picnic lunch. Later anchor in Great Harbour on Jost Van
Dyke. Perhaps enjoy ‘happy hour’ and music at Foxy’s Bar.
Day 6 Jost Van Dyke is perfect for walking and the views are spectacular.
You can anchor just inside the reefs and enjoy superb snorkelling. Take a sunset
sail to Cane Garden Bay and the north coast of Tortola where giant manta rays
play around the yachts.
Day 7 Sail to Norman Island, thought to be the famous Treasure Island.
Snorkelling and diving amongst the numerous fish and corals is outstanding here.
Visit William Thornton, the floating restaurant famous for their ‘painkiller’
cocktails.
Day 8 Take your last swim, snorkel or snooze in a hammock before
disembarking your yacht. Note: If you have 9 to10 days you could also visit
Anegada, the only coral island in the chain where there are miles of deserted
virgin beach plus superb diving and snorkelling.
Food and beverage
A highlight of yacht chartering is the fabulous food on board. You will be
supplied with a preference sheet to complete prior to sailing and the chef will
try to accommodate special requests and diets. An ample supply of beverages will
also be stocked Sample menus available on request.
Honeymoon/anniversaries
Many yachts specialise in taking just two guests and usually have a good master
en-suite cabin with total privacy. Romantic candlelit dinners and picnics can
also be arranged on deserted beaches at your request.
