It is a city where good living, fine music and celebration go hand-in-hand; where the glorious days and glamorous nights of the mighty Habsburg Empire are reflected in the monuments and traditions which remain today. One can easily imagine the ladies of the Court arriving at the Ball in their finest gowns, assisted from their carriages by dashing escorts, immaculate in colourful uniforms with gleaming buckles and blades. You need not leave it to your imagination. We will fly you to Vienna by luxury Private Jet to attend one of the city's great and historic occasions - the New Year’s Eve Imperial Ball at the magnificent Hofburg Palace. A Flight of Fantasy to the New Year’s Eve of a lifetime.
The superb Gala Banquet is served in the magnificent State Apartments which include the Grand Festival Hall, the Ceremonial Hall, which was the Throne Room of the Habsburgs; the Privy Council Chamber where Franz -Josef received Napoleon and the Redouten Halls where the Congress of Vienna was held. You will be seated in the Grand Festival Hall and the first dance melodies resound in here at 10 pm. It is also here that, at midnight, to the sound of the bell of St Stephens Cathedral, the Imperial couple wishes everyone ‘Happy New Year’ and the Ball dances to the ‘Blue Danube’. The highlight of the evening is the Viennese Operetta Gala which takes place shortly after midnight in the Grand Festival Hall and features star singers and dancers from the Vienna State Opera... Dancing to various orchestras and bands continues until early into the morning and our own exclusive transport will run a shuttle service from the Hofburg Palace back to the hotel at half-hourly intervals from half past midnight until 0300. Dress requirements are black or white tie for gentlemen and long evening dresses for ladies.
Outside, in the reality of today's world, this city still insists on making you feel happy, a day in the life of Vienna is full of good things. Stroll along the Karntnerstrasse with its excellent stores, exclusive boutiques with unsurpassed quality. Jewellers, confectioners with chocolate and marzipan delights and bakers with exquisite pastries and tempting gateaux abound. Take a rest in one of the typical Viennese Coffee houses and treat yourself to delicious Sachertorte topped with whipped cream, a Viennese coffee (with more whipped cream if you like) or lemon tea. Your city tour will include many of the famous sights and a tour of the Schonbrunn Palace. One of the world's top opera houses, the Vienna State Opera has a reputation for presenting the finest conductors, soloists and orchestras to perform the great operas. A Chauffeur Car will take you from the Hotel Imperial to the Opera where we invite you to cocktails and canapés in the Teesalon prior to the performance, and during the interval. 30th
December - Buffet breakfast in the hotel.
This
takes place each year at the Hofburg Palace – the winter residence of the
Habsburgs. As you arrive in the Entrance Hall, Imperial Hussars perform the
traditional ceremony of the Changing of the Guard. The entire palace is bedecked
with stunning floral decorations and, after a welcome champagne cocktail to the
strings of the Johann Strauss Orchestra, you will be invited to ascend the Grand
Staircase, flanked by liveried footmen. At the top ‘Emperor Franz-Josef’ and
‘Empress Elisabeth’ await, attended by Imperial courtiers and Hussars.
The
haunting melody of the ‘Third Man’ theme captures perfectly the magic of Vienna.
A city of Strauss and strudel, waltzing and wine; a city one feels that has
always been happy and peaceful. Naturally, that has not always been the case,
but Vienna shows the good side of its past. The glorious and glamorous nights of
the mighty Hapsburg Empire, of which Vienna was the sparkling capital, are
reflected in the many monuments which remain in their splendour today. A
horse-drawn carriage passing under wrought iron and gilt archways will take you
back to those times, as will a stroll through the corridors of the incomparable
Schonbrunn Palace.
